Credentials

ICE-BERG was founded in 2020 by me, Chris Yates. See below for my career history and skillset summary.

Stockholm, Oporto, Cairo, but mostly Stockport

Today

ICE-BERG

Building Physics Consultancy

Founded ICE-BERG to spread the knowledge of building physics and its capabilities in bringing about a sustainable built environment.

2015 – December 2020

BDP

Building Physics Lead

I re-joined BDP after 8 years and re-established building physics as a core discipline delivered in-house. With training, mentoring, and management our team grew from zero to six full-time staff in four years.

We pioneered bespoke assessments not common in the UK, such as Measurement and Verification to ASHRAE Guideline 14, thermal bridging and hygrothermal studies.

2013-2015

HILSON MORAN

Senior Sustainability Engineer

This was a great company to work for. It was a pleasure to service their big asks: high quality and diligent client focus.

EDSL TAS detailed systems modelling

ASHRAE 90.1 PRM method for LEED

LCA - Whole Life Cost and Carbon

2010-2013

FREELANCE

Freelance

This was a period of career jetsetting to such exotic places as Stockholm and Bristol.

EQUA Simulation AB, Stockholm

Halcrow, Bristol (now part of Jacobs)

2007-2010

ZERO ENERGY DESIGN

Associate

Inspired by their vision to do something special, I joined an ex-colleague’s start-up. With a client base of 50 – mostly UK – based companies, ZED was an exciting and formative period in my career cut unfortunately short by the sub-prime mortgage lending fiasco and redundancy.

Management of TFL EPC framework

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Projects from Riyhad to Nova Scotia

2005-2007

BDP

Building Physics Lead

Joined BDP for the first time in leading the rollout of IES modelling.

1995-2005
